03031Insight investigates critical topics impacting Amherst, NH. Our research aims to inform policy and enhance community well-being through data-driven insights.

The Editorial Staff:

03031Insight was created by Jeff Candito, Steve Frades, Muzi Husainy and Dwayne Purvis in 2024. 

The editorial staff for this current edition includes Steve Frades, Muzi Husainy, and Mike Akillian. We're pleased to have Dan Veilleux as a guest contributor for this edition.

Mike Akillian

Mike's expertise in journalism, marketing, management, and governance has served organizations and clients in high tech, biopharma, defense and aerospace, electronic publishing, and higher education. The Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges has adopted his strategic governance approach as best practice for its 1,900 member organizations nationwide. He has appeared on WBUR’s Morning Edition and WGBH’s Greater Boston discussing higher education. In, Amherst, he led the Board of Selectmen's implementation of strategic governance across town departments and has served on the Planning Board and other town committees. 

Steve Frades

Steve, a 50-year resident of Amherst, has a strong background in front-line manufacturing operations, product development and management, data analytics and visualization, and information systems management. Most recently, he has created a innovative, interactive user interface that makes the wealth of information in the New Hampshire Dept. of Education (NHDOE) database immediately and broadly accessible to educators, board members, parents and the public. All graphics appearing in "Are SAU39 Students Getting Our Money's Worth" were publicly sourced and created with his interface. 

Muzi Husainy

​Muzi has served as a senior technology executive and global program leader delivering large‑scale, mission‑critical transformation initiatives for public‑sector, education, and highly regulated organizations. He leads complex infrastructure modernization, data center resiliency, application modernization, and hybrid cloud programs that demand high levels of reliability, security, and governance. He has successfully directed globally distributed programs exceeding $100M, supporting organizations such as New York City Public Schools, federal agencies, and higher‑education institutions. Muzi has been a resident of Amherst, NH for 21 years, and both his children attended SAU39 schools. 

Dan Veilleux -- Guest Contributor

Dan’s experience in public administration and finance, accounting, operations management, economic development, and governance spans both private-sector management and public service. He serves as a New Hampshire State Representative for Amherst and has held leadership roles in educational and regional governance, including service on the Souhegan Cooperative School Board and the Souhegan Regional Landfill District to which he has brought a practical, policy-focused perspective to long-range planning, public investment, and community decision-making.
